He held the position of Director of the Laboratory for Planetary Studies and was the David Duncan Professor of Astronomy and Space Sciences at Cornell University. Sagan's contributions to space exploration were significant, and he played a leading role in important missions such as Mariner, Viking, and Voyager, which explored various planets in our solar system. In addition to his work in the sciences, Carl Sagan was also recognized for his talents as a writer. He received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for literature, further highlighting his ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to the general public through his writing. Sadly, Carl Sagan passed away in 1996, but his legacy continues to influence and inspire both scientists and science enthusiasts around the world.
