Alexander Elder

Alexander Elder, MD, is a well-known professional trader, teacher, and author of several best-selling books that are considered modern classics among traders. His expertise in trading and psychology has made him a sought-after speaker at conferences in the US and around the world.

Born in Leningrad, Dr. Elder grew up in Estonia and showed exceptional academic prowess by entering medical school at the young age of 16. At 23, he made a daring escape from the Soviet Union by jumping a ship in Africa and seeking political asylum in the United States. He settled in New York City, where he worked as a psychiatrist and taught at Columbia University. His background in psychiatry provided him with unique insights into the psychology of trading, which he has incorporated into his trading strategies and teachings.
