Mai Mochizuki is a Japanese mystery novel and short story writer, known for her critically acclaimed series Holmes of Kyoto (Kyoto Teramachi Sanjō no Hōmuzu) which was adapted into a manga and an anime television series. She was born and raised in Hokkaido and now lives in Kyoto, where many of her stories are set. Her works, such as Alice in Kyouraku Forest and The Full Moon Coffee Shop, have won awards, including the 4th Kyoto Book Award.
