In "Good Economics for Hard Times," economists Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo tackle some of the most pressing challenges of our time, including job loss from automation and trade, inequality, prejudice, climate change, and immigration. The book provides a witty and irreverent perspective on these issues, making economics both informative and accessible. Banerjee and Duflo offer a masterful tour of current evidence on critical policy questions facing less-than-perfect markets in both developed and developing countries. They join the dots from numerous theoretical and empirical studies, presenting a clear argument that is easy to understand. "Good Economics for Hard Times" is an essential guide for the great policy debates of our times and an informative read for those looking to gain a better understanding of economics. The book has received high praise from experts in the field, including Raghuram Rajan, William Easterly, and Thomas Piketty, who have called it a must-read for anyone interested in tackling the challenges of the modern economy.
