Abhay Charanaravinda Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, also known as Srila Prabhupada, was a renowned spiritual teacher and the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), which is widely known as the "Hare Krishna movement." He was born on September 1, 1896, and passed away on November 14, 1977. Srila Prabhupada is highly regarded by followers of ISKCON as a representative and messenger of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, a 16th-century Indian saint and spiritual leader who emphasized the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra as a means to achieve spiritual enlightenment and devotion. Throughout his life, Srila Prabhupada traveled extensively, giving lectures, conducting ceremonies, and providing spiritual guidance to his disciples and followers. His teachings emphasized the principles of bhakti yoga, the path of devotion and love towards the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Krishna. Even after his departure, Srila Prabhupada's influence and teachings continue to inspire millions of people worldwide to embrace the practice of Krishna consciousness and lead a life centered on spiritual values and devotion. His legacy lives on through ISKCON and the continued propagation of his teachings by his disciples and followers.
