Lawrence M. Miller

Lawrence M. Miller, often known as Larry Miller, is an American management consultant who has advised corporations such as Xerox and 3M. His book Barbarians to Bureaucrats: Corporate Life Cycle Strategies (1989) argues that companies, like civilizations, pass through a natural life cycle, from the Prophet and Barbarian through Builders, Explorers, Administrators and Bureaucrats to the Aristocrat. He proposes the Synergist, a leader who balances creativity with order, as the figure who can restore vitality and secure future growth.
